Hi what are the best 37 inch TV’s out there at the moment.

Have what hi fi done a 37 inch super test? Please help as i want to buy a 37 inch tv

Thanks Clare.

I will look at them now.

I will connect normal sky up to it for the time being nothing High def just yet. Is there any you can recommend or what shall I look for as I heard not all HD TV are great with standard TV e.g. Sky

i am considering the Panasonic TH-37PX80B

For standard def the 37PX80 would be a good bet. This is what I am considering. 37" is a difficult size as that is when you'll start to notice the jump in quality from SD to HD but my preferred brand, Panasonic do not make a Full HD 37" plasma, only LCD. From my experience plasma is better with SD material. I can't get away with a 42" Full HD plasma so my head is still being scratched.

The 37PX80 is a bargain right now. Best verdict will be yours at a demo. Take in a DVD and ask to compare screens.

I have the same dilemma. I wanted a 5 year guarantee but John Lewis don't seem to have any of the 37PX80 at present.

M&S were doing the 37PX80 at £639 over the weekend in my local store (Camberley) - this is a little more than other places but they have a 5 yr guarantee for all their TVs. On their website though they are still £799 or something else uncompetitive.

it looks like I am going to go for this as the only thing i will watching through it at the moment is dvd's and sky but my budget can go a bit higher. I was also looking at the Sony KDL-40W4000. What's standard quality like through this tv?

I have been trying to decide which LCD TV to get for ages but keep getting put off by the bad SD picture quality.

I don't have any HD sources and may only ever end up with HD on Freeview so SD performance is top of my list. No one ever reviews SD performance these days but I bet most LCDs spend a very large part of their life displaying it!!!

Any way I digress slightly... I think I am going to switch the search to Plasma specifically the TH-37PX80B or the LG 32PG6000.

I currently have a philips 28" CRT and this screen is big enough for me so was thinking of the 32" Plasma, but the 37" Panny gets good reviews and is tempting.

The cheapest place I have found with waaranty for the Panny is Richer Sounds: http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=PANA-TH37PX80 £569.95 or £629.90 with 5yr warranty.

Is there a dieefence between a 37PX80 and a 37PX80B???

I haven't read any reviews on this LCD but it may be worth also considering the Panasonic TX-37LZD800 if you're not seeking a true home cinema.

i switched up recently from a 28inch crt sony to the panasonic 37px80b and its just brilliant!!

it does struggle with some of the SD transmissions for the itv channels, especially in bad weather, but my aerial and cable run is about 40 years old (evidenced by the "gpo" cable ties) so that is my first point of update.

i bought from richer sounds - nice people, set was in stock and home the same day.

the "B" just means its the british model with relevant power supply and plug

Ahh thats good to hear.

I have bought most of my AV equipment from richer sounds and never had a problem with them either.

With regards to warranties I have seen these, they look good value:

Yeah both my current freeview boxes struggle every now and again especially on FIVE. I think its a feature of Freeview...

Have just joined the 'What HiFi' forums and need some advice (don't we all)

I'm replacing my32" panny. PG50 [after 7 trouble free years].

I can accommodate about 950 m.m width.

Have short listed [in no particular order]:--

Pannys - TH37PX80; 37LZD80; 37LZD85'

Philips - 37PFL5603 and the 7603

LG 37LG6000

I looked seriously at the 'picture frame' 40" Toshibas because of their width came within my limit, but I'm informed that they don't have a headphone socket [not that I use one all the time, only occasionally]; is this correct and are they [the 40xf & zf 355 models] such worthwhile sets' that I should forego my headphone 'want'??

I have all my 'stuff' via ntl/Virgin; I would probably connect the new screen to my V+ box and the other 'ordinary' V box to a new 26" lcd [any suggestions] in due course; I don't play games, etc, all our viewing would be SD & HD (where available here in cardiff) and maybe a DVD player.

ALL suggestions and /or comments would be most welcome and appreciated

These are really great prices for extended warranty.Any idea what they are like?

I was hoping to get the Panasonic 37PX80 from John Lewis with the free 5 year warranty but they have stopped stocking it and now they aren't stocking the 42PX80 either.

I can't get it from RicherSounds as they only have this in store now.

Does anyone know what the best online price for the 37PX80 is? I am beginning to wonder whether I will ever get it! All the newer models will soon be available and then I will be confused all over again!

Available here for £699 with 5 year warranty. Have seen it around the £550 mark without a warranty (like here at Dixons - put DELTV in the offer code box during purchase for free delivery). Most places are generally asking for another £200 for the warranty making it more expensive.
Bought my TV from Crampton and Moore a few years back and had no issue with them.

Cheers Prof.

I am beginning to wonder whether I will ever get this TV!
