330W speakers!?

I have recently accquired a valve amp, a Tugsram RT-6000 stereo receiver. The back of the case says it is a 330W amp, and as far as I know, any speakers with lower power handling capabilities will blow. What are my options? I would like to get some speakers to do the amp justice. Where can I find a pair of 330W home speakers? Or could I use some sort of power limiter (if such a thing exists...)

Any suggestions will be welcome

Cheers

That's consumption, rather than output. As a valve amp, I'd expect most speakers wouldn't be blown by it (it does say 4-16 ohms on the back, so it would appear quite forgiving in that regard).

As JD says - the 330w is the amount of juice it takes from the mains. The output is a great deal lower, as most of the power consumption in valve amps is turned into heat...

I would be surprised if it is outputting much more than 30w per channel...

I have a feeling a valve amp delivering 330W would be humungous. And as far as I know Tungsram only now exists as a lightbulb company - it's part of GE, IIRC.

Here's one...I love the 70s-tastic look about it!
