Dear Community

would any kind soul be able to advice me on whether the following are compatible with enough quality sounds for a large double ceiling (6x8m) room of up to 80 people aiming for 95 db mean sound level with contemporary electronic dance music without undue dammage to equipment (exept perhaps the odd human cochlea). does it matter which outputs i use on a 7.2 amp?

i have:

1 x sony str dn1050 AV receiver/ amp

7.2 Ch. 1155W A/V Receiver (165 W x 7 at 6 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 0.9%)

and 4x Wharfedale 2090 Installation Loudspeakers 200w Programme / 100w Continuous

SPECIFICATIONS Configuration 2-way Frequency Response (+/- 3dB) 50Hz - 20kHz Power (RMS) 200 Watts Impedance 8 Ohms Max SPL 119dB Woofer 8" Tweeter 25mm loaded titanium dome Rigging M6x8, M8x2, u-bracket Inputs Speaker Cable Weight 7.9kg Dimensions (H x W x D) 270mm x 445mm x 220mm

i also have 2 Ruark CL-10 speakers if need be

thank you for your wisdom!

You are filling a large space with a lot of people, I would not usually use hi-fi gear for this kind of application though.

But you have what you have and the only thing I would change would be to use some (at least a couple) of the biggest active subwoofers I could afford. You could then reduce the low bass to your Wharfedales allowing them to go much louder and if you can mount them at head height or above, you might just get the job done.

Place the speakers as high as possible in the room.

Fire them above the crowd. Use the fronts A or B not the surrounds.

If you have a sub use it. Turn all unused channels off.....and turn it up.
