But are they the type of films that are rewatchable? I can’t say about Warcraft as I’ve never seen it, but John Carter is pretty bad. There’s nothing about the film that would want to make you go back and watch it again. Same with Prince Of Persia, Cowboys vs Aliens, and the remake of Clash Of The Titans. Of the above, I only own Clash Of The Titans as I bought it before seeing the film, thinking, ‘how can this fail to be awesome?!’. It failed to be awesome.
I’ve mentioned this a few times on AVForums. Over the years, there’s been a number of members who have been in the race to get the loudest systems and subwoofers that go the lowest - at one point, having a sub that went down to 20Hz was like owning a Ford Ka in their eyes - you had to have something that reached 10Hz, and some felt you just had to have single digit. Why?! To watch films like John Carter? If people want to spend huge amounts of money to hear mediocre (or just plain terrible) films at their best, then be my guest! But, as mentioned above, short of getting it out to impress your mates when they come round, are you really going to watch it again?
There’s very few films like the above I own as modern remakes of this type of film just seem to be devoid of quality in almost every area. If it wasn’t for the horror genre, I probably would never have ended up with the system I had, or will have when funds allow.
All I can say is Warcraft looked interesting, but never having played the game, I’ve not really been inclined to see it. I’ll catch it at some point.
