Don't take my word for it, I'm probably the least knowledgeable person when it comes to HT ( I'm trying to catch up quickly), but I gather Sky hd is 1080i and should in theory display better on an HD ready rather than full HD set. Less/no scaling to do. Having said that, of what I've seen on my set in the shop there's no problem whatsoever on a 1080p panel, even with the additional processing going on.
Well with an HD ready set you will get 720p and with a Full HD (1080p) ready set you will get 1080i. On my 40 inch screen, I cannot notice a difference between 720p and 1080i. However, if you have a receiver that upscales hdmi to 1080p like the big Onkyo beasts, you would be able to get 1080p from Sky (which you wouldn't with an HD ready screen).
