Can anyone help me?

I have a Pioneer plasma screen that can acecpt a 1080p/24fps signal, but what i need to know is can a DVD,HD-DVD or a BLU-RAY player upscale a standard DVD to 1080p at 24fps.

I've had a look on the net, but can't find anything.

Cheers.

I am fairly sure that, while many DVD, Blu-ray or HD DVD players will upscale standard-def DVDs to 1080p, they do not alter the frame-rate from DVD's native 50Hz or 60Hz (for UK or American discs, respectively). I'm sure it would be perfectly technically possible for such a conversion to take place, but I do not think there are any players available that actually have this feature.

My Sharp TV displays (briefly) the Hz and lineage (??) whenever a new input is put in. DVDs come in at 50hz for PAL and 60Hz for NTSC. Blu Ray and HD output the pure frame rate and relevant Hz (except for non HD extras)

Pretty sure there was a warning in the docs that came with my Tosh HD plyer about setting 24fps on PAL DVD's potentially leading to poor image quality, however having set it to 24fps and playing DVDs it seems not to cause me any problems, and I've just assumed it's not been doing it for SD-DVDs however I have no confirmation that my TV supports 24fps so it might all be ignored anyway!
