1.3 HDMI Query

Hi everyone, when i had my old system toshiba 32wlt58 lcd, sony str-da1200es amp and samsung hd950 upscaling dvd player connected via hdmi's i had to manually select the hdmi av channel in order to view a film I notice that my proposed new set up which consists of a panasonic th-46pz85b plasma, onkyo 606 and panasonic bd30 all have 1.3 hdmi connections and i have a couple of queries 1. As its version 1.3 will it automatically sense the source as kit connected with scarts leads normally do ? and 2. If i linked the player to amp to tv and wanted to watch a film late at night without surround sound would i be able to get volume from the tv if the amp was in stand by via pass through ? thanks for any replies

1. Yup, should do - the official advice is to fire up the receiver first then switch on the Panasonic kit, which the Onkyo should then detect

2. Not sure the receiver will pass through the signal if switched off. But it should do so if powered up but turned down.
