£300 for a home cinema system

As title really. After a 5.1 system for £300, could perhaps stretch to a little more if a real bargain were recommended. It will be for use with a PS3 and Sky HD, not fussed whether it includes a blu-ray player as I currently use my PS3. Smallish speakers are a must really as I only have a small room and already have Diamond 9.1s on stands so would rather something that won't introduce too much clutter.

Have been recommended an Onkyo HTS3305 so far, does anyone have any experience of this system or can anyone steer me along different lines?

To add to your list,

1) Pioneer DCS585 - Has the advantage of multiregion DVD playback, which is not possible by your PS3.

2) Panasonic SCPT480

3) Samsung HT-BD1250R - 'This is a blu-ray home cinema system.

The Onkyo 3305 system looks good value to me. It's difficult to get demos of the more budget end stuff so I can appreciate it might be difficult to get balanced opinion online. Hopefully WHF might do a round-up of these sorts of systems to help you out.

Unfortunately I have a very slow internet dongle connection so trawling through google for reviews is nearly impossible anyway, it takes long enough just to load a page I know the address for! I was in Richer Sounds earlier which is where I saw the Onkyo but unfortunately it wasn't set up yet, although they did say I could have it on a 14 day trial if it was the one I wanted, that may prove more useful to me than a review as I would be able to listen to it in my own room anyway

Agree. The best opinion on a system is your own after testing it in your own home.

there is a new 5.1 blu-ray system from LG with now square rather than the oval speakers of last years 5.1 dvd system.I recall sounding very good with the oval speakers.seen it for 299 euros.bargain
