I need a little advice on upgrading my current Fyne F302i’s. I have a budget of approx £1000. I was considering the Fyne F501-e or Wharfedale Evo 5.3s and got a demo in my local Richer Sounds but the listening room was very small and both sets of speakers were not exciting me very much (I think mainly due to the constraints of the room). I’m looking to put them in my living room which is roughly 5x5m with 2.7m ceiling and pair with my Rega Brio amp and Wiim Ultra. I have very limited options for listening locally with one other dealer that offers demos, but can only let me hear the Fynes and even then they are reluctant to arrange a demo if spending less than £2k.

A good place to start is with what you have. What do you like about your current speakers, and what would you like to improve on?

Hi Andy, I really like my Fyne’s as they sound really good with my setup- I haven’t much to compare with at the minute but want to see what more I can get from my system with a ‘better’ speaker. I’m leaning towards the Fyne 501e’s as I already really like their smaller siblings and they seem to bring very high quality drivers at the price albeit there are other speakers that look a lot nicer. Getting to hear them properly is the biggest issue.

Hi, if you like sound signature of your Fyne F 302i, than new F501-e are the right choice for you. Brio will be happy with speakers with higher sensitivity, especialy in a big room like you have. Speakers like Triangle Borea 07 will be also very good combination. I use my Brio Mk6 with czech Xavian Delizia column speakers. This is also great choice. I have used Brio in my second system also with some Cabasse speakers and old Rega Jura columns speakers. Juras are great choice as well. But Xavians are a lot better (except deep bass). BR.

I haven't heard the F501-e but they are well reviewed and if you like your existing Fyne's its a good start. Again, I haven't heard the Wharfdale's, but have heard their smaller sibling the 5.2 and was impressed.

As for problems with demo's, are you in the UK? if you are you get 14 day cooling off with online purchases.
