Thanks again - you've been really helpful.
Hi - I've just bought an old Technics SL D21 turntable which needs a new stylus.
Instead of buying a replacement which will cost £10 - would I be able to 'upgrade' with an Audio-Technica AT101EP Cartridge for £25? Would I be able to 'fit it on' - sorry - I clearly know nothing about turntables...
THis is the thing - I need to know what I'm looking 'for'?....what makes a cheap turntable different from an expensive one?
I seem to like the 'look' of vintage Technics (not the SL 1200 series) - I've read that they can be 'upgraged' if you buy different cartridges? But how would that make...
Hi - I'm looking on Ebay for a turntable.
I have a Vintage Marantz 30 watt amp and some new Mordaunt Short M10 speakers.
What exactly is it that I'm looking for in a turnable?
Belt drive....direct drive etc?....I've heard that cheap ones damage your vinyl....don't want that obviously!
Thanks.
...just reading the reviews on the Mordaunts - appartently is suggests that the speakers are to be used with an 80 watt amp and mine is only 30.....would they still be OK?
Thanks Muljao - they look great, similar to these that I'm watching.

OK, so 100w is OK with a 30w amp then.....this is all *so* confusing!!
Think it's time to press the click button - thanks so...
Hi - I'm watching a pair of Sony 70's speakers on Ebay and the photos show the two speaker parts inside the speakers listed as:
8 ohm NOM. 2w, and 8 ohm 5w
2w and 5w in each speaker - so they have a total of 7 watts per speaker? That doesn't seem to be much power?
I have a 2 x 30 (8 ohm)...
Hi - thanks for your advice.
I'm actually on an incredibly low budget - I'm looking at vintage speakers on Ebay for no more than £50 - I also like the wooden cased ones anyhow.
But most of them seem to be 4 ohm (especially the various Bang & Olufsens that I'm looking at) - so what you're...
Hi - I've just bought a Marantz PM-4001 on Ebay (used) and need some speakers to go with it now.
Its specs describe it as having 2 x 30 watts (into 8 ohms).
I've no idea what this means, but I *think* if I were to get some speakers that are 4 ohms, they wouldn't be compatible?...they would...
