Great suggestions but I don't have room for floorstanders... :-(

When I'm 2 meters away from the speakers pointed directly at me, all is good. When I step away, I immediatly lose all the bass which leads me to think the speakers aren't powerful enough. Maybe it's a combo speakers/amp? My amp is a Cambridge CXA60 that I rarely run above quarter volume.

Yes only with the cassette deck...the CD transport has the same volume settings.

I have to turn the volume up with the cassette deck only. The volume is the same as before with the CD transport. Also, I hooked the speakers up with two sets of wires (bi-wired connection). Not sure if this is necessary or not ?
