I had one as a phone, buying for the DAC as I spent a lot of time in trains. It was great, much better than some of the dongles that I have used since, and drives a HD 580 fine when needed. Only the battery life let it down.

I used my big HD580s fine. They deserve something good, as a very capable phone for audio. And didn't chew battery either, although everything else did!

I bought one of these, they are cheap and offer mains protection at a minimum, and found the same. My Nad d3020 sounded worse - like the speakers had been put in a box. Sounded awful. But on my Arcam they opened up the soundstage and added detail. Both were very distinct changes, which amazed...

And can take micro sd cards. Dunno max size though.

Oh, and my Hd580s go loud for big cans. Surprising from a small package, and dac doesn't appear to use much battery.

Just bought the above from an online retailer. Has a Sabre dac, and sounds lovely with a variety of headphones. Includes a headphone amp that changes op according to impedance. Have sold my off board dac as not needed. Great phone, but battery is average so get a replacement (it can be changed)...

I tried it out and found it lacking in energy and insight. Also had a C320 that I never liked as well, but the sound was similar. The D3020 is different altogether though (oddly) and so worth a try if you have a small room.

How do you find the Node 2 compared with your D 3020? I tried the Powernode and found it the same dull Nad sound, different to the D 3020. I was after a bigger, more detailed version of the D 3020. http://www.2l.no/hires/index.html? has some MQA downloads btw. Interesting site to make comparisons.

I really like mine, but need to be paired correctly. So mine sound really good with my Nad d3020, but only budget with my Arcam. Different rooms though. With my Nad they are very musical, fun, fast and detailed. In a small room, with mostly hard surfaces. Exactly like the WHF review describes...

Ditto for the NAD. It really is a great amp for the money after audinioning others. The What HiFi review is spot on if you use digital inputs. Severnoaks have sold it for 300 on offer, but ask and you may get the same discount.
