Where do I go from here?

My original plan was to simply upgrade to newer streaming based hifi from a clean sweep of budget 1991/4 award winners, indeed it was one of my first posts on this forum 😊 I instead built another completely different system and it awoken my hifi big again but in the interests of your post I...

New amp that changed an uncompromising opinion and beat the opposition so convincingly I took it home

Thanks as always "Jasonovich" Im at the demo rooms again today and after going through the usual suspects and some rarer known brands and a few stuck out to me for combined reviews and specs, I always cross-reference to see if there's a non biast shared opinion forming over the usual product...

New amp that changed an uncompromising opinion and beat the opposition so convincingly I took it home

First of all please follow the links I'm not the only one now am I, indeed there's many instances of this shared problem occuring "numerous" times with others resulting in returns etc. Again I will shorten it going out of character for me just for you on a an actual (chat)room Here goes...

New amp that changed an uncompromising opinion and beat the opposition so convincingly I took it home

I think some/most have fully read my original and following post some maybe not. I can't blame them it's rather long winded, alas I'm also guilty on occasion of skimming through things for whatever reason. Suffice to say it's like musical chairs/amps at the minute as I swapped back to the 33yr...

    Go Back to CD?

👍 I never left them behind either 👍 The reliable sound quality and physical ownership /collection side kept bringing the the old addage "If it ain't broke" to mind

New amp that changed an uncompromising opinion and beat the opposition so convincingly I took it home

I will indeed. I've just gotten hold of a Rega elicit Mk5 on loan from my friend as I was impressed by it's sound yet stayed away for the few heat issues mentioned online yet he's never had the heat problems. We obviously checked the bias to find it's (apparently non adjustable) to be safe but...

It's not the SP version yet still rated at a nominal 8ohms . All speakers dip in resistance when under varying load conditions which would write most speakers off for most amps if they were to be taken as a baseline. Although I take your point.

That's more helpful than you may think, and thank you. Knowing others have also had problems always makes me feel more at ease in not being the only one 👍

New amp that changed an uncompromising opinion and beat the opposition so convincingly I took it home

It's indeed very true. I have various other amps that go deafeningly loud before 10 oclock yet I drive them sometimes higher. I'm an excitable type I guess 😂 The technics on paper was scrutinised and seemed capable yet I'm unsure of my theory as the presented fault is also connected to other...

Wouldn't be much of a conversation if I just said by the way "it broke" As for punctuation I do the best I can with the smartphone I'm on in my short break time.

With humility as one of my defining morel values I need to first get out of the way EARLY on the Technics give in after not even a week with 6ohm speakers that dip a tad to the low 3ohms then even shut off with the larger 8ohm fyne's. After a 30min listening session at nearly 11oclock as you...

New amp that changed an uncompromising opinion and beat the opposition so convincingly I took it home

Fred R. Bernard "A picture is worth a thousand words" A very apt phrase for my day out at the various demo rooms of both dealers and come-to-be friends of many yrs in one case. Fast becoming one of my favourite places in which I keep all things hifi and also myself that nondescript in favour...

‘Muddy’ sound using cassette tapes/deck/through quality hi fi components

I remember the 3 head GF 65 MK2 Akai my father gifted to me in my early teens that was absolutely use d and abused for yrs. Your right it could could come close given the right circumstances. (I wasn't that posh kid at school with the new trainers and best bikes whenever they came out but...

‘Muddy’ sound using cassette tapes/deck/through quality hi fi components

It sounds like pardon the pun "dirty/worn heads"l Going back to the mid 90s to early 00s when djaying I would always record with a few tape decks to sell afterwards amassing a lot of hrs causing the symptoms you describe Via a worn tape deck head that would cause a slow loss of high...
