Once I've found a sound i like I'll stick with it and don't really care what other people think of it. Just looking for the shortcut to brands that are smoother / warmer which more experienced users might just be able to point me toward a bit quicker. If they can stay on topic.

What a stupid post. Nobody said the thread was important - you did. But I do expect more than half the content to be relevant / useful to the question raised, not endless posts about speakers that are of no interest to me or helping the thread progress.

The source is just a WDTV medi box but linked optically to a DAC playing FLAC files. The set up was bright in my oldplace too. If I have to change the amp and / or speakers I will but they sound great otherwise.

I hear you. But wanted to try something less drastic first. I've tried a few placement options but nothing much happens - sound staging changes but not tone. I suggets cables because I have seen massive changes happen from 1 cable to another - albeit quality noyt tone.

I've pre ordered this. I can push tunes to it form any Apple device over wifi with no loss of quakity (I only have FLAC or ALAC files on iTunes) but can also process auio through it's Optical input from my Media Player and TV player. Cheers all.

Just read that the airDAC also hs an ethernet - so will just plig into my router and away I go. £400 is a bit cheeky but I guess I can keep all my gear this way. Anything else that does what the airDac does?
