I disagree 100% A transport won't have a sonic signature because it produces zeros and ones. If anyone can prove they can hear a difference between transports in a blind listening test and always choose the correct device, then I'm willing to change my opinion.
All a CD transport needs to do is send binary data to an external DAC at 1411kbps. Laser, optics and something to spin the CD. This stuff is over 40 years old now and should cost no more than £100 so what do people think is actually being improved when they buy a really expensive CD transport?
First, a vinyl revival, then cassette tapes and now CD, exactly as I predicted ages ago.
Thing is, if you rip your CDs to FLAC files and store them, these files are lossless versions and will sound the same.
I don't want anyone to stop playing vinyl, if they prefer the sound. My argument (and I'm correct), is that technically, vinyl will not give you an accurate reproduction, when compared to CD or high res streaming. Again, I thought this site was the pursuit of accurate music playback, not longing...
I don't care what format people prefer to enjoy their music, but I'm sick of the constant shite from people who insist vinyl can ever be an equal, or better format to CD, or newer formats. Once again, vinyl cannot reproduce music as accurately as CD, or a newer format, using the same master. A...
When I read these posts, it's as if people are brainwashed and can't see the truth. Your pedantic comment 'Most studios use 24/48 or occasionally 24/96, only a few record in Higher.' just proves you don't understand. It doesn't matter what quality the studio recordings are saved in, they still...
I do accept other people's choice, but I won't accept BS from people who worship vinyl. Vinyl CANNOT preserve the same amount of detail as CD, or a newer format.
If I recorded a 5 minute song in a new recording studio, let's say at 24 bit, 192 kHz quality, then this high res file would be held on a hard drive, or SSD and it would be the ultimate in high res recording. If this file was on a streaming platform, let's say Tidal, then it would be available...
If you can't hear the difference between CD and Spotify, that's probably why you listen to vinyl and think it's the best thing ever. Maybe people listen to vinyl and accept its limitations, because they can't tell the difference between vinyl and superior, modern playback methods. Perhaps all...
I hope your not suggesting I'm a toddler, with your cowardly condascending comments. If you've got an issue with my (correct) view of mastering and vinyl being a lower res and inferior format to CD, then you need to explain to me directly how vinyl could ever be a higher quality format, using...
I would like to see every recording released on Blu Ray Audio discs, where the sound quality far exceeds any other format, or the files available on streaming platforms. This will never happen, because not enough people want it. There's little chance of any streaming company offering the highest...
If the master used for CD is the same as the one used on streaming services, then it will be the same quality. It will be a bit forbit copy and the same quality. A higher than CD quality file on a streaming service will give better sound quality than CD. This is a technical argument, as many...
You say there are thousands of recordings not available on any streaming platform and I don't doubt this, but I'm 55 and I have a very eclectic taste in music. The music I listen to is always available online and I'm sure that's the same for 99% of people streaming their music. Why would anyone...
