Thanks for the reply. I will look into getting the Onkyo amp. I was wondering about spending a little more so will try out both options soon. Getting the Kef speakers recently has reminded me how much I used to love music and especially CDs.

Yeah, I was thinking about the Marantz PM6006 but wasn't sure how well it would drive the Kef Q500 speakers or if it's good with vocals. I'm guessing it would be fine.

I have just tested out my birthday present a Marantz CD6006 and am surprised by how good it sounds over using my Xbox One for playing cds. Can I get a similar improvement by getting a 2 channel amp instead of using my Sony 1050 av receiver? If so what would people recommend? I like Vocal...

I listened at Superfi and was shocked at home much better the Marantz cd6006 was than a Denon CD player that was reduced to £175. I then compared it to a £600 blue ray player. I thought it sounded clearer than that as well. Im getting the Marantz soon.

I use an Xbox one for cd's and blu ray atm. I have considered other options but tbh all the options are confusing. I have considered a blu ray player that is just as good as the CXC but I have no idea what that would be, or if I could afford it. Whatever I buy it will be a long term purchase...

Would the Cambridge CXC work on a Sony 1050 AV reciever? My budget is £400 so if I need a seperate DAC then maybe I'd need to go for a different player.

I can get the cd player for Christmas and the speakers for my birthday (with some pursading). No luck on the amp though. That's a shame because I think it will make a big difference. Maybe I can save for the pm6005 instead. It should also be good. It's just a shame my boiler choose this time...
