Sony Merge With TCL interesting !

The above mentioned strategies and subsidies are used by the USA (and other Western nations) to try to bring manufacturers in too, but workers in Western countries have to be paid much higher wages and even then don't want the jobs. For decades Western countries have abandoned manufacturing and...

Amp Upgrade for ATC SCM11 Speakers

funny really because ATC's own web site states "Flat impedance curve allowing easy load for amplifiers" but then they state that an amp between 75 - 300 watts is recommended... what are they smoking down there in Stroud? LOL I can't really see why the M3si isn't up to the job? The M6si might be...

    Speakers in a narrowboat

Just a thought... have you considered a high end sound bar like the Sonos Arc Ultra? You could save valuable space by mounting it on the roof or high on the wall (less likely to fall off the shelf when the cruising gets a bit rough - or perhaps you're not a continuous cruiser)? Also, reflected...

Audiolab 7000a or Cambridge CXA81 MKII

Personally, I would be looking to replace the speakers. Both those amps should produce great results with compatible speakers in a good room. If it was 1992 I wouldn't be using speakers designed and built in 1958... even the current Klipsch Heresy is not the same speaker that it was in 1958. The...

    Qobuz connect

As you said... yes... I was simply providing some feedback as requested by jamesrfisher re: the situation with Yamaha products. If enough people call in and request it Yamaha may come out with a firmware update with no need to buy new gear. They have it implemented already in some of their...

Why it is (almost) pointless to recommend speakers

That's kind of the point and design concept of near field studio monitors isn't it?

    Qobuz connect

Unfortunately, despite a recent firmware update, my Yamaha R-N800 is not compatible with Qobuz connect I called Yamaha and they didn't seem to know anything about when or if they will be making it available as a feature in the future. I updated both the desktop and iOS Qobuz apps but nothing...

New amp that changed an uncompromising opinion and beat the opposition so convincingly I took it home

1,113 words (with no punctuation) to say that the Technics Grand Class broke?

New amp that changed an uncompromising opinion and beat the opposition so convincingly I took it home

Are you saying that the Technics SU-G700M2 reduces or eliminates the sibilance from 'Same Old Song'? I gather that you are listening to 'Automatic' on CD using the Roskan K3?

    WTH??? Vocal frequency ranges.

'bite' in this case being onomatopoeic (musically). A term used by mixing engineers. Remember, everything we are listening to is fake unless it was recorded live with a couple of mics, a dummy head or a simple Decca tree set up in a live space. However, what's not fake when there’s a one in...

    WTH??? Vocal frequency ranges.

You're getting hung up on the 'fundamental' frequency. The 'air' on recorded vocals can extend all the way up to 20KHz. Mid range 'bite' is around 1-4K.

Old speakers, new tweeters are a bit too sharp

Whizzer cones are quite common on cheap full range speakers. There is no crossover involved, the paper cone is just connected directly to the voice coil and helps to extend the high frequency range - you could call it an integrated 'poor mans tweeter'. For example; this Visaton 6.5" driver that...

    STREAMING QUALITY

The MusicCast app is a controller app that tells the Spotify server what to play and streams it directly to your Yamaha device. So no, there will not be a difference in sound quality as the sound is not going through your phone or tablet at all. If you have successfully installed the Musicast...

    Earphone tips

Earbuds essentially suck. The sound is constantly changing ever so slightly as they loosen slightly over time, especially when working out. I find myself constantly having to re adjust them. They are also hard on your hearing, more so than over the ears. I’ve tried just about every after market...
