    What's up with Hifi Wigwam?

I visit the forum there too but the website has been down for a while now? Anyone else?

The 'best' CD players of the last 10+ years?

Well I'm kind of sorry I asked as this has left me very confused. I didn't realise that £5K was the going rate for a 'not high end' CD player or that you should just buy a cheap DVD player instead which would be just as good. My old Technics is working fine so I will stick with that for now...

The 'best' CD players of the last 10+ years?

Why is that? Are you saying a DVD player will give better sound than, say, the Marantz 6000 suggested above?

The 'best' CD players of the last 10+ years?

Thank you for the suggestions although clearly some of you have very different ideas about what isn't 'high end' stuff!! Budget wise I don't really know but my thinking is that with the decline of CD's etc, I might pick up a bargain for around £100 or so. I missed out on a Technics SL-PS70...

The 'best' CD players of the last 10+ years?

I have an SL-PG500A - someone recommended this when I was finding my Cambridge Audio a bit dull. It was a big improvement.

The 'best' CD players of the last 10+ years?

Hi, Currently I use a Technics MASH player which is from the early 90's - it sounds great (to me) but I'm aware it's getting long in the tooth and recently a couple of times has mis-loaded. I'm thinking of a replacement (although it still works fine) and buying used, wondering what models...

    Question Speaker Matching Room Advice

I lived in a flat with people below and above me. I 'upgraded' my speakers to a pair of floorstanders and a few days later the upstairs neighbour mentioned that she could hear my music and would I mind playing it a little quieter - I wasn't (in my mind) playing them any louder that I had my...

Secondhand HiFi - What to look for?

All of my current hifi was bought used. I have bought via ebay, facebook and forums. If you can, buy 'locally' so you can collect in person (and most genuine sellers will offer to demo the gear before you hand over the cash). As many people like to continually 'upgrade' it seems that there...

Using bi-wire cable with single terminals

Thanks. I have good quality cable so would rather use what I have, plus it's routed under carpets so it's a bit of a pain to replace. I'll just feed two cables into the banana plugs. It's funny, when I got into hifi about 25 years ago, bi-wiring was a MUST do and you should always buy speakers...

Using bi-wire cable with single terminals

I have bi wire speaker cable, the flat type with four strands. I want to use it with amp/speakers with single terminals so should I either just use 2 of the strands on each cable, or use both HF and LF strands in a single banana plug, or doesn't it matter either way?! Thanks

    Resurrect Cyrus One

Wow! I only bought a Cyrus One a few months ago, mostly out of curiosity - I remebered the articles I'd read about it in the 90's when I had a NAD. It's flipping amazing, such a great little amp for my needs - I just hope the new one is faithful to the original. Can it be better?

    How many times???

Yes, I've bought a few albums I already own - usually something I see in the bargain bin or whatever, think "I like them" and snap up a bargain, only to find the long forgotten CD buried under a pile later at home, Doh! This is one of the reasons I really want to put all of my CD's on a hard...

Anyone want to write about hi-fi?

is it just me or does anyone else wonder why every 'review' posted on a forum or blog follows the same kind of style and format as the hifi magazines? Is it possible to come up with an original style, instead of the usual "....insert name of track....had my toes tapping along even if the bass...
