Is it worth while buying an older av receiver without and HDMI input and using an optical input instead to save money?

I have about 150 for something second hand. Missing the HDMI audio might be an issue that is true but I don't often have blu ray dvds due to how expensive they are but I was looking at something like a cambridge audio 640r or something like this?

Is it worth while buying an older av receiver without and HDMI input and using an optical input instead to save money?

I have currently got an onkyo tx-sr307 but the quality is not amazing and I was wandering that for my budget it would be better to buy an older, second hand amplifier that doesn't have the HDMI inputs and use an optical input coming from the tv instead. By doing this surely I can get a better...

Left channel on CA Azur 640a v2 stopped working

It turned out that it was the phono cable the whole time, I imagine the amount going for spares or repair is simply a reflection on the sheer number sold although I do find it does over-heat very often when put loud which is quite annoying.

Left channel on CA Azur 640a v2 stopped working

I have done through the output but I never thought about the input, I'll try now. Cheers.

Left channel on CA Azur 640a v2 stopped working

Could anyone help me understand why the left channel of my Cambridge Audio Azur 640a V2 amp has just stopped working. For some reason the right channel works and some music plays quietly through the tweeters but little more. Any help would be great!

How to remove the rear panel from a Mordaunt Short Avant 905I

The only screws go into the crossover which only seems to allow me to remove this. Does anyone know how to get inside the speaker? Cheers, Jamie

    Subs?

Oh right, I might look into that, cheers.

    Subs?

You would be right, but I wouldn't be prepared to pay in the thousands ever, regardless of how much I like music, and whilst I am at University I don't want to be dishing out loads of money for things that can easily get damaged during parties and such like, but I mean to what extent is the...

    Subs?

Well from what I've heard REL seems to come up a lot but I'm not looking to buy new as I'm a student and I would always rather go second hand as you get a lot more for your money, especially in the audiophile world. I have tried them facing in and out but its not really that, its when you try...

    Sub-Bass is Back!

I've been looking for a nice second hand sub for around 100 pounds that just brings out this sort of music if you have any suggestions?

    Subs?

Yes by controlled I mean subdued and whilst the bass is pretty great on something like classic rock, blues and so on (was listening to some AC/DC and Clapton this morning and it was great), I have gotten into a certain type of music where the bass is more prominant! I have heard some good...

    Subs?

I have recently bought a pair of Mordaunt-Short 908s which have 10 inch subs in the bottom however despite this, coupled with my CA 640a V2 the bass is great but really controlled and it all just doesn't come alive much so I am think of adding an active sub to the pre-out. I have a couple of...
