Well it'll work using the Sony as a centre speaker, but it'll sound odd compared to the JBL's. In a surround setup it's desirable (or essential if you're looking for the optimum sound) for your front three speakers to have the same timbre. Anything panning across the front soundstage will sound...
I would ask KEF. I had an issue with my Quad speakers a few years back, a model they haven't made for about fifteen years, and they were able to supply me with a new woofer.
Why the change of equipment?
Seems a sideways and possibly slightly backward step to me...any changes in sound quality are likely to be fairly minimal, even with revealing speakers.
Hi Gel. I went to Richer Sounds but after buying they called to say they didn't have one in stock. They offered me a used unit for 10% off (list was £1599) so £1439 total. Wanted a new one so went to AV.com and paid £1599.

Have the Bravia 7 and it's a great screen.
Two things though WHF -

I would imagine putting them side by side you may notice some very minor differences. The G5 has the layered panel for example and a slightly wider colour gamut. The Philips has some good processing and is no slouch at all though. I would suggest it likely sounds better than the LG as well. But...
A 75 inch TCL at £600 isn't likely to be as good as your Sony for a few years yet. Close the blinds or keep a light off (and put on behind the screen if you need some light in the room). Much cheaper than buying a new tele...
I would need to have them all side by side in a room to be sure for my own personal opinion. The Sony won the hdtvtest shoot out. The Panasonic is the highest scorer on AVF, the LG scores well in rtings as per your earlier post. Different sources and different results. For me, upscaling of HD...
