I'd be very interested in how this performs with iPlayer listen again streams.

How much difference is there, in truth?

The obvious disadvantage of an all-in-one is that if one element fails, necessitating either return for repair or replacement, the whole darn thing has to go away or be replaced. I have vinyl, CD/DVD/SACD, Cassette, Reel-to-Reel, HDD Recorder, DAT and TV as sources in my room, through a...

    4 WAY MAINS EXTENSION OVERLOAD?

Surely calculations should be based on their power consumption (what they draw from the mains) rather than their rated audio output (as somebody above determined from the spec sheets)?

    Broadcast quality

I use a Squeezebox Touch to listen over t'internet. With the iPlayer app, I find the small trade-off in quality is far outweighed by the convenience. I listen to the radio programmes I want, when I want. It might not have the presence, the open-ness, of a top-rate FM tuner, but there's never any...

    Choosing a Tape Deck

"How do you tell if it's been thrashed?" Look at the general condition. Open the cassette door and look at the tape head and capstan assembly with a good strong light or torch. The tape head should have a curved profile, and shouldn't show excessive wear. If there's a valley worn across the...

    High Quality Music Downloads

I've got a 24/96 recorder. If I were to take the standard 16/44 CD of ... Koln Concert by Keith Jarrett, say, and took an analogue feed from the CD player into my 24/96 recorder, making 24/96 AIFF files from this; then converted them to FLAC - do you think anyone be able to tell this apart from...

I know the original recorded source, amplifier, and speakers all play a part, but is the source recording the main part ?

I can happily listen to concerts recorded with a microphone in the centre of the crowd, if the music's right. A HiFi should maaximise everything that you feed into it, not just the well-recorded stuff.

New Teac kit: MP-H01 & UD-H01 - out in September

Altruistic Lemon wrote; "You're better off with Apple TV which is cheaper and has an hdmi out so does videos, too" A few years back, a HiFi Exhibitor suggested to a journalist that Video CD was better than Audio CD because it 'had pictures'. The journo's reply was that he'd rather listen to...
