The Anthem room correction is tied via the app and controls the test signals and applies those settings to the avr. we were going to check if we could run a single channel test signal and just use the mic and app to see what the curve looked like and if there was much of an issue with the room...
Has a chat with my neighbour and i'll need to have a play with the Denon, I understand i can generate test tones individually from each speaker but not sure if these are the calibration test tones. Otherwise i'm going to have to look for test tones online that i can allocate to a single speaker...
a nice 7.1 projector setup with artcousitcs speakers and and anthem receiver which comes with similar software so he's offered to let me borrow the mic and software so to see how far the auto calibration looks so if it's off then i might go for the app. probably won't be for a week of so but...
Am I right in thinking that your you had run the audyessy calibration in the Marantz but weren't happy with the result? The reason for asking is that munch of the room EQ functionality is the same in both brands and my Denon is also compatible with the app so wondering if worth the punt to get...
Apologies for the delayed response, not been online.
Now that Denon and Marantz are the same company is there much difference between the brands as the seem to share the same core functionality, same room correction technology?
I'm going to have a futher play with the setting and put my SM6...
Hi Guys,
I've seen discussions that a separate stereo amp will trump a expensive AV Receiver but i'm not exactly high end so there must be some middle ground where the AVR performance is acceptable. I'd appreciate some opinions to help me decide the way forward.
Current set up is in my sig...
Is it the same as being at the cinema? No. Is it an improvement on my 5.1 setup? Yes
Vs the Cinema negatives:
Sound not as immersive
smaller screen.
Vs the Cinema positives:
convenience
room equalised for my listening position.
Can pause when i need
No-one making noise or distracting...
very happy with the set up and next upgrade will be 5.1.4 once the budget allows. Thanks to advice on here , i ran extra runs of cable so just need to make the holes in the ceiling when required.
Given the sheer physical differnce between the Q7000i L/C/R and the MA equivilents the sound is bigger and much more cohesive in my bigger room. The best way i can describe it was that in the old set up you had a more sense of the sound coming from the direction of the speakers. Forthe MA...
if you are using an AVR then you'll be driving external speakers and the TV speakers should be turned off hence not lipsync issue with the TV if have set up correctly. Your BD should be passing the audio to your AVR with the AVR driving your the speakers and a video only passthough to the TV.
From a surround sound perspective replacing the L & R is so much more enveloping. My new space is open plan so although the 7000i were great previously and they are still pretty good i think the room dimensions require a bigger speaker. I noticed on normal TV viewing the centre channel does...
