Question Put a sock in it

Rear ported is not nearly as fussy as folks make out. If positioning less than twice the width of the port from the wall, then you probably want to plug the port. Besides that, every other consideration of placement is identical, no matter what bass reflex type.

Problem listening to music on HiFi Walker H2

The OP hasn’t returned, and a suggestion has happened to have helped somebody else. That’s a good thing.

Problem listening to music on HiFi Walker H2

On my first read through of the OP, I didn't catch that this occurred on two units. My initial thought was maybe the corresponding connector in the socket had lost its springiness over time (as they can do) so wasn't touching. After re-reading, for it to happen on two units was surprising...

Problem listening to music on HiFi Walker H2

Found this from Reddit, and it had a comment from another person that confirmed the same worked for them: Edit 2: I was just an idiot, the jack needed to go further in. I feel stupid for even posting this. Suppport did say that there could be issues with TRRS 3.5 mm pins though.

General Consensus On Subs In HiFi

The KC62 does have speaker level connections, just using a phoenix connector instead of a speaker (so you use whatever speaker cable you want). Pure marketing. Firstly, a speaker/subwoofer has no idea what you are feeding it content wise. With the speaker level input, it draws so little power...

What are your thoughts on Synthesizers and music created by Synthesizers.

As a musician, I love using synthesizers, whether keyboard controlled or 'piano rolled.' I am primarily a bass player, but using things like the Roli Seaboard can be so expressive. But even if I'm plugging into a sequencer, the tone shaping and composition are extremely creative endeavors. And...

General Consensus On Subs In HiFi

When set up correctly, they are an extension of the main speakers and work wonderfully. What they should do is take what you love about the system before adding, and bring that quality down into the low end. After all, when you pay money for an upgrade, there should only be benefits. There...

Pro-Ject CD taking a leaf from the Chinese

How are Pro-Ject taking a leaf out of the books of those other manufacturers? The non-valve version has been out since at least 2019, and the original, also 'CD Transport and DAC' they did, the CD Box RS, came before that too. I want to say 2014.

    Farcical things said about HiFi!

Well that article is certainly an exercise in Search Engine Optimisation.

    Question Cyrus CDi-XR anyone?

Yup - I used the original Mojo as a home device that happened to be used if I wanted to listen on the move e.g. flights.

Anyone going to buy the new KEF Coda wireless system?

Well, as someone who has heard the LSXIIs, they certainly don't embarrass themselves in a mid-to-large room. It's impressive how far Hoffman's Iron Law can be bent with a good acoustic platform supplemented with DSP. But that's based on my expectations. YMMV.

Subwoofer connection advice - integration consideration with current setup

Sold a fair few of those SW150s and TXNR8050s back in the before times, in the long, long ago. What you could do is something like the MiniDSP 2x4HD. This is an active crossover which you would place in the signal path before the AVIs. It has enough outputs to add a subwoofer coming out of it...

    Under carpet speaker cable

Wireworld have an inexpensive flat speaker cable called Horizon, that should run very nicely under carpet.

Subwoofer (for the organ) on an ultra-budget system?

Your analogy doesn't work at all. Subwoofer signals are almost always mono in nature, even in stereo sub situations, as low bass is almost always mixed down to mono, whereas in an AVR, you have wildly different signals going to each individual bed channel. But even then, quarter wave and...

Subwoofer (for the organ) on an ultra-budget system?

You say you're not arguing with that... and then you do. Which is it? When you double the number of powered subwoofers, you are doubling the amplification. If you double the drivers without doubling the system wattage, you are dividing the wattage between the additional units, which is why you...
