    The DAC scam

Long delay in my response, I know. But anyways - I didn't say what he says is crap - but the video itself is. The way he presents his 'arguments' has no footing, the presentation is faux rage and borderline condescending, and he does nothing to back himself up, just like the subjective DAC...

    New plug on screened cable

Fold the cable back on itself and use a nice velcro cable tie. Saves you another trip if you find you need to repurpose it somewhere where the longer cable is beneficial.

    WTH??? Vocal frequency ranges.

Bass vocalists can get lower than that too. This is why subwoofers should not be an afterthought/a race to the bottom - even after being crossed over, they are still contributing to the fundamental and low order harmonics of so many instruments, as well as the human voice.

    The DAC scam

And at zero point does he reference any sources. As I said - I'm not disagreeing with a bunch of his stuff, output voltages being different being one of them. It's just a crap video on par with other ranty videos which have been done to death before.

    The DAC scam

First time I've seen this guy, and whilst I don't disagree with a bunch of it... it's very 'source: trust me bro.' It's a rant, pure and simple. Also have to chuckle at his 'military spec' thing, because he also doesn't understand what it means. Military spec just means that it's passed muster...

    Assistance understanding YPAO setup

Even a matter of inches can make a difference, if you have that to work with. Sometimes it's even better to go closer to a wall - rooms have 'dead zones' that sit within the perimeter of the room. Stand with your back to the wall and talk in a deep voice. Keep talking, and shuffle off the wall -...

    Assistance understanding YPAO setup

The Q changes how much around the frequency is also raised - think of it as how wide the hump is. So by combining multiple humps, it's further shaping the response. The higher the Q, the narrower the hump. What that's going to do to phase is another question entirely, but what you're seeing is...

    Rega treble issues

Experiment with the toe in/toe out of your speakers. It's free, and really should be the first port of call.

    CD to Amp connector cable

Maybe their Tuned ARAY and composite shielding migrated their floating shields out. But that was definitely drilled into us when I was retailing them. I had the pleasure of building my own Signature RCA and speaker cables - damn they were fiddly.

    CD to Amp connector cable

The only time I would say the arrows may have a use is when a cable has a floating shield. The end of the cable connected to the output equipment should be the end that has the ground connected. Other than that... nah.

Weird that so many audiophile threads are argumentative

The biggest problem is that people think that their use case is THE use case. One of the best pieces of advice I was given when I was in hifi retail was 'we aren't paid for our opinions - we are paid for our experience.' Many people confuse the two.

Question How to plug an electro acoustic guitar into a hifi system

Because it can mean more website hits. As I said then, I'll say it again - Search Engine Optimisation.

    News Bose buys McIntosh Group

https://essentialinstall.com/news/bose-corporation-acquires-mcintosh-group/ Interesting - the group was acquired by the (now previous) owners back in 2022.
