Given the size of your room I'd say go for bigger speakers. The 3050 would be a good place to start.

I have 25 yrs old Pioneer A400, 20 yrs old Pioneer A300R Precision and a 10 yrs old Cyrus 8. All working perfectly and sounding fantastic. so for me no prob with 'old' amps.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I've read that soundstage / imaging on the A300R is better than the A400. Was wondering if the A300R Precision lost some punch the 400 had due to being lower power output. Thanks again.

I'm new on here too! I've got the 3020 speakers, they are amazing for their size. Plenty of bass too. If I was you I'd go for an old Pioneer A400 or 400x off eBay. Everyone says the A400 is best. I've had both and they are both very very good giant killers in their day. You can pick them up...
