    Set up for best sound?

I also find 75% of the time the forum tells me I'm unauthorised to post in certain sub-forums. I have to refresh on each page to remind the forum I'm loged in. Set up for best sound eh? Sounds like this could be the hi-fi thread to end all hi-fi threads! ;-)

What vinyl are you listening to?

It was a very long night, music went on at around 8.00pm and ended at about 3.30am so the desck was spining for almost 8hrs. The night went well though, if a bit hectic, will invite far less people next time, only about half the guests brought music, the other half just wanted to get pissed...

    Hifi corner with . . .

Start your own. I had a pretty successfull Vinyl listening night with friends over the weekend. I was surprised at how many people had records when they don't own a record player. Six or seven people were keen on doing regular record based socials and a couple are now looking into getting thier...

What vinyl are you listening to?

Got around 30 people coming to my very small house tonight for a "Bring a Vinyl and Food" party. - I will be opening the proceedings with my two latest purchases: New Order - Lost Sirens & The Pixies - Into The White - Half way through my contributions will be: Mischief Brew - Smash the...

    Turn table arms question

Buying all the parts seperate will work out more expensive. Rega Planar 2 without arm for instance, on ebay selling for £80 to £100, Rega RB250 around £80, more for the RB300, then at the very least £35 for a cartidge (AT95e). Totaling £215 then you've got to make it work! I got the whole...

Belt Wobble on Rega sub platter

Thank's for the advice. I found another thread where people had a similar problem. I took the belt off and coated it in talcum powder then put it on pully first, pulling it around the sub-platter as advised keeping it at level as possible and it is much better. There is still very slight...

Belt Wobble on Rega sub platter

I found a video of a Rega with exactly the same problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Il6A6-_qsw8 But here they have blamed an old belt, I know this is not the case as it's a white one straight out the bag. Need to get it fixed by Friday. Any ideas? Thanks.

Belt Wobble on Rega sub platter

Yup thats pretty much what I did but the belt does not stay still on the sub-platter, tried twice but will try again. It doesn't slip off at least. I'm guessing that it shouldn't be moving up and down the sub-platter in this way while it's spinning right? Searched the web but can't find any info...

Belt Wobble on Rega sub platter

Hey, So the new white belt arrived today for my Rega Plannar 2 to replace the stock one in time of a "bring a vinyl" party I'm hosting on friday. I couldnt find any intructions on how to put it on properly so I figured it was straight forward, wrap it around the sub-platter then ease it over...

    Silver or Black?

Silver, I've got dark oak finish speakers sitting on a dark oak cabinet and the silver Denon amp sat between them really stands out. I guess if I wanted my sytem to blend in black would have been better but I want people to notice it. However, as some people have said some items and makes look...

    Getting Rega Planar 2

Got the Rega, £120 plus the guy even drove me home so I wouldn't have to take it on the train. Can't say fairer than that. Currently I'm having to crank up the volume to Max untill I can get hold of a preamp. I'm realy enjoying the physical side of the fully manual system. Stangely I'm kinda...

    Getting Rega Planar 2

Hey so I can get my hands on a second hand (maybe more like third hand) Rega Planar 2 in good nick with RB250 arm and AT95E cartridge. Would people recommend this as a first turntable? The other option im considering is the Pro-Ject essential for £20 less. I've heard good things about both and...

    My First Turntable

I was also wondering if anyone know anyhting about the SoundLAB Professional USB Belt Drive Turntable or the Technics SL-J110R? Both new and priced at £120 compared to the others mentioned.

    My First Turntable

USB would be a bonus but by no means essential, I can get most of the stuff in my collection in mp3 format off the net anyway. It's just owning the vinyl that i want. Plus some of the bands I listen too only release in vinyl (pretentious much?) Another option I have come accross is the Pioneer...

    My First Turntable

Connecting it to a Denon DM39 so (apparently. I checked with the guy in Richer Sounds when I bought it) I will require a phono pre-amp. After postage the Audio Technica is more expensive than I hoped. Would going for the Sony be a mistake? I dont really know where Sony stands when it comes to...
