Im not saying you didn't get a proper demo of the Yamaha but to have a fair comparison of the yamaha you need to demo the yamaha with the same b&W speakers that you demoed the HK's with and in the same room. It might not change your impressions after doing this or it might. ;)

Sorry for not responding sooner , you basically use the 9/10 band eq in the windows media player so what you do is play music with the flat eq on the pioneer AVR, then you play music out from your PC Laptop eg a music cd then adjust the Eq through windows Media player on the fly... then...

I'm not sure about the implimentaion but the Sony 5600ES allows 32 Band EQ it might only work with the PC based software that comes with it so check it out first as it doesnt mention it in the Manual unless i missed it...

You need a Sony CD player eg. Sony SACD XA5400ES. to take advantage of it. This is a way of transfering the CD info to the Receiver, It uses the HDMI. Pioneer has it but calls it PQLS Denon I thick called it I-link...
