I'd like to get to know your music preferences. The idea is giving a top ten of artists and one of their songs. If possible with a link to hear the song.
The order from 1 to 10 doesn't matter. It's just about giving your 10 most preferred artists. Don't think too long about which song to choose, the first that comes to mind is usually the best.

I almost put songs in from artists that I just like the one song of. Hardly a favourite artist when it's just the one song. After I compiled the list, I realised there is a complete absence of anything by Clannad, a group that has always been a favourite of mine. My excuse I'm rushing to get ready for work😂

It was my intention of having people spontaneously compiling a list. That and the 10 items limitation probably makes it impossible for most people to include all of their, or even their most important favorites.
I am sure when I would have thought longer, maybe my list would look a little different too, but hey, it's not a capital crime here to forget to include an artist that appeals to you

It's a very beautiful piece of music.
I regularly listen to classical, mostly Vivaldi recently, I will cherry pick the better ones out for you when I get more time and a few others.

In all honesty lately after only discovering them relatively recently I'm totally enomoured with "The Lumineers".

So much so I bought all there albums on CD to enjoy whenever, and to enjoy the physical collecting side of music.

Most albums of nearly all artists have tracks that aren't very good but to me there's not one song I do not like.

It's been a long time since I've heard any new (to me) music that makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck with excitement.

I often play it way louder than perhaps I should, simply getting lost in the music.

The exponential amount of satisfaction and joy a decent hifi adds to music becomes ever more apparent..........

It's strange for me personally: In the living room we have my husband's Luxman and Visaton loudspeakers and they are truly Hifi and they produce an excellent sound. I like them enormously for listening to classical music, but I don't enjoy the set-up for pop music. I prefer the Denon CEOL N12 (with the speakers that come with it) more for that. The speakers that come with the Denon are a little more "dull" and it's all less HiFi but I prefer that for pop music: I have the impression that nowadays studios record songs with more treble so they still sound good when using the cheap portable bluetooth speakers teenagers are carrying around. But then this more treble is overkill and my ears don't appreciate it. That's the only explanation I have. Also, for me personally, with pop music the sound should not be too analytical. And that quickly becomes the case with real HiFi.

Thanks for the list! Not one song I knew but I really liked those from The Band, Buddy Holly and Alice in Chains.
Paul Simon, Mamas & Papas and R.E.M. I know as artists. "The One I love" is my absolute favorite from R.E.M. "Radio Free Europe" comes to mind, too.

i for the first time saw ,other than me, a person who likes the levellers,

but ,there is a but ,i only heard their first album and i don´t hear it ,maybe for almost 35 years or a couple of years after released

as the 90´s were so filled with good bands or great songs, as i like many british bands from the 80´s and early 90´s but it was all taken to USA and this bands seemed to vanish but i would keep buying their albums as the 90´s were passing,

some bands like Ride , House of love , Catherine Wheel ,Swervedriver, Pop Will Eat It Self, Cranes, Lush,Ian Mculoch(hope i wrotte it well, echo & the Bunnymen vocals)it had a cover of lover,lover,lover from Leonard Cohen and a duet with Elizabeth Frazer, Inspiral Carpets, Blur, the Fall , Pulp, PJ Harvey , and so many others

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen. Please forgive the lack of YouTube links.
Here we have it from my perspective. I can't really say I have a number one because I love all the music I listen to but what I have here are some of the best versions of my favourite music that I've been able to find.
Take the Mozart Symphonies. Nikolaus Harnoncourt, conducting the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, is really my favourite. I'd heard a few versions but was somehow left cold. Someone on a forum somewhere, said he liked these the best, then when I was lucky enough to see a brand new set for about a score on eBay, I bought it. It's not quite the complete symphonies, earlier ones missing. However, what is there and played by the above mentioned orchestra is sublime, honest, a must listen.
Mozart Piano Concertos, Lili Kraus and the Vienna Festival Orchestra, conducted by Steven Simon, it's on YouTube, again, a must listen.
Beethoven Piano Concertos.....Emil Gilels, George Szell conducts The Cleveland Orchestra, again on YouTube you won't hear better or anything anywhere near it. That's the truth.
Rachmaninov's complete Symphonies has to be the Concertgebouw Orchestra, this time conducted by Vladimir Putin.....oops sorry, I meant to say Ashkenazy. If you're new to Rach', then try "The Isle of the Dead" Opus 29 by the same orchestra. Again it's on YT.
Rachmaninov's Piano Concertos......Earl Wild, Jascha Horenstein, RPO, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.
Next I'm gonna recommend Rimsky-Korsakov, 3 Symphonies, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Neeme Jarvi, it's very compelling listening and I honestly think anyone here would like it.
Vivaldi, Four Seasons, La Serenissima, that's Adrian Chandler's ensemble, who specialise in Vivaldi, again among the best or try Vivaldi, La Stravaganza by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Neville Mariner conducting.
Beethoven Symphonies you still can't go wrong with Herbert Von Karajan's 1963 recording with the Berlin Philharmonic, personally, I prefer the original not re-mastered recordings.
Next we go with Berlioz, "Symphonie Fantastique", Concertgebouw Orchestra, Sir Colin Davies.
Number 9, I'm going to recommend Sibelius, Berlin Philharmonic, Herbert Von Karajan again, this album starts with Finlandia, Opus 26, and finishes with Tapioca Opus 112.
My next and final pick is "A Portrait of Elgar" English Symphony String Orchestras, William Broughton, on Nimbus Records.
If you read all this, thanks for bearing with me and I'll say if I could inspire or persuade anyone here to start listening to classical music instead of pop, rock or whatever else it's called, I would. I did and I'll never go back. There's a whole lot more I could recommend, but I'm sure you're all fed up if you got this far.

Reviewers often judge the quality of hifi by whether it makes their foot tap - which I've always thought is rather strange criteria.

Regardless of the player, I can't ever listen to my choice of music without tapping hands and feet - well over 99% of my music contains percussion (but then the majority of music does, doesn't it?).

Favourite music of mine is rhythmic and melodic - can't easily link to YT on my 80 quid wonder phone - maybe later when I've got the laptop on....

On that basis, everything I have ever listened to has been crap. I never foot tap.
