Hey,

I was down at Steve's hi fi yesterday and saw a Technics Pre and power combo that I loved. It's a bit retro, with two massive voltometers on the front of the power. The Preamp is battery powered, which i've not seen before, but made me want it even more. Steve said it's quality kit, but was honest enough to say that my Exposures walk all over it. Which was nice, 'cos it saved me spending £450

Anyway, have a peek. It's not on his website yet, but I know it's up for £450. I think it retailed for around £1200.

saw the same thing on ebay a while ago, was tempted to get it just for the retro looks but sanity came over me in the end and decided as i know nothing about its sound quality id leave it be.

I do like the looks though

Yeah, quality-wise they weren't great, and were only bought by Technics fans. The 900 pre/power was nowhere near a grand - the 1000 series was. If I recall correctly, the 909 was around the £350/400 mark. There was an 808 below it with the VU meters which was about £250.
