Hi all!

I have upgraded from an old amp with no HDMI to the Yamaha RX-V1065. Can anyone help me with the following:

1. Does HD audio run through optical leads? (I am getting 5.1, but no idicator on the amp as to what the source is, so is it Master Audio or just DD?)

2.Does the amp have to be switched on fully to pass through video? (if Sky HD / BD player HDMI go to amp, then HDMI form amp to TV is only source of picture? So I cant just watch TV without the amp on?)

3. The YAPO auto set up says I need to turn the 'crossover' to max, my sub has 'phase' and 'frequency', which should be on max?

Thanks in advance!

1. No, only through HDMI or, if relevant to your player, multichannel analogue connections. All you'll get through optical is standard definition DD/DTS.

2. As far as I remember, yes it does need to be on.

3. Frequency. Set it to to the highest value available before running YPAO.

Hi Nick

Just responded on the other thread.

1. No

2. No, but it only passes through video and not audio (annoying). In the set up menu on the 1065 you can turn on HDMI pass through while on standby -- but if this won't pass through audio, what's the point??? Maybe someone can help here???

3. Unfortunately I'm not sure about the sub question as I don't run one in mys system. LFE is routed through main speakers (not ideal, I know, but far more neighbour friendly and my B&Ws pump out a reasonable amount of controlled bass to compensate).

God I love this forum!

Thanks strapped and Andrew!

Video is all i will need to pass through when on stand by, but, how would I get audio to the TV if the amp is off?

Andrew, re the sub, what do I do with the phase? will auto set up look after that bit or is that for me to play with?

strapped: see post in other thread as well. Theres an option to select audio to pass through amp+TV, default seems to be just amp......I now get video and audio pass through!

Happy days!

Must say, still quite a lot to work out yet!
