Yamaha r-n500 unable to play network mp3 files

I've recently bought the above network amp/receiver and everything works fine apart from it's unable to play the mp3 files from my laptop connected to the same network. It states that it is able to play mp3s, FLAC etc. from a computer on the same network and it can find the files but when I select one it just hangs for a bit and then says "unable to play".

I have set the laptop to stream on my network through windows media player (as stated in the manual) but it just wont do it.

Does anyone know how to rectify this?

That's weird. My rn500 plays all files fine. Is it all mp3s or just the ones you are trying to play? Try a bunch of different files, maybe the mp3s you are trying to play are corrupt or something. Download something totally new, one set of mp3s and one set of flac and see how they play. yIs your firmware updated to the latest version?
