yamaha dsp 863 sound settings

Hi ive got the yamaha dsp 863 amp just wondering how it should be set up with a virgin hd box. Currently i have an hdmi goin from the amp to the hd box should i be using an optical cable??. Should i be getting 5.1 when im watching sky movies???

V+ outputs DD5.1 over HDMI so a secondary digital audio cable is not required (unlike Sky). I'm not familiar with cable but I would check the sound settings.
