I have ordered a Yamaha 767 and I was wondering what kind of speakers I should use with it for music and movies. I have rear-speakers so I only need the fronts and center + perhaps a subwoofer. Budget is around 700 pounds... Should I put the money in speakers alone and run a pair of floorstanders with rears instead of 5.1?

Hi jakja83

I'll recommend Monitor Audio speakers as they are a great match with Yamaha AV amps. The new BX5/BX6 and BXCentre will be ideal for the RX-V767. If your room is not too big then for the time being the BX5's/BX6's LF output should have more then enough.

All the best

Well, I will use them a lot for movies as well and I think the BX2s will be a bit cheaper with center than RX1 and in my room front firing stuff works better, and I think the BX2 will suit the 767 better. Don`t you agree?

Ok, thanks.

And just briefly - how good is that 10" BX-subwoofer? Good for music, but can it deliver "the goods" on films as well? I have owned SVS subs earlier on, and "normal" subs rarely touch them when it comes to movie performance...
