Having purchased my first ever projector last year I went for the cheap option of the Optoma HD65, which is a great little entry level 720p Projector. So far its been absolutely great on a 84 inch Panoview screen I have set up, however, as the majority of my viewing on it is PS3 and Blu-Rays I was wondering if it was worth upgrading to a 1080p projector? I have been looking at the Optoma HD20 as I have a budget of £1,000 maximum, however, I am more interested in knowing if other people have any experience in going from 720p to 1080p Projectors and is the difference worth the extra cost?

Many Thanks

On an 84-inch screen, you will definitely see a step up in quality when you upgrade to a full HD 1080p projector.

Thanks guys, Any recommendations for a sub £1,000 1080p projector? Or is the Optoma HD20/HD200x the only ones at this price range?

I would probably wait until the Sanyo PLV-Z800 is reviewed, my company has the z700 in the Autitoruim and that is amazing quality

Though that will fetch about £1000-1300, plus it depends if you prefer DLP to LC .there's nothing wrong with the HD20 in fact it very good

Though you would get a few quid for your Optoma on other forums to help with the costs
