I have a small 'L' shaped room - 2.8M x 3.3M with a 1M x 1.7M 'L' to my rear left.

I am thinking of upgrading my speakers. I enjoy the sound I get but it is a bit tiresome sometimes due to brightness. I know the Cyrus kit is a bit bright but I like the detail/clarity and the service/upgrade potential so bought Cyrus instead of the many others I tried after many, many hours of demo's!

I have a pair of Mission 782 3-way floor stand speakers that I am about to repair (mid cones stopped working) and will give them a blast! Haven't used them properly for years! Will be fitting the newer cone that doesn't break. (No slight on Mission, great after sales service!).

My Von Schweikert speakers do sound great and can be positioned close to a wall which is good for a small room.

I have been considering the Spendor A5.

Would they work in a smaller room about 30cm from the rear and side walls?

I have not auditioned them yet but from what I have read they work great with Cyrus kit.

Will they sound less 'bright'?

the relaxed nature of the spendors should offset some of the cyrus kits forward presentation. dont discount dynaudio speakers as many people like them with cyrus kit and you have plenty of power to control them.

Thanks for the reply bluebrazil.

I'm not going to rush into a purchase,
will spend hours with my existing kit with my different speakers to
get a feel of what I have then demo some other speakers.

From memory the Mission 782 speakers
were very forward and bright due to the keraform mid cones which is
why I got the Von Schweikert VR1's. The new cones for the 782's are
not the original keraform ones so may be less bright, have to fit and
try them.

I got the VR1's at a discount from a
friend who was closing down his Hi-Fi business and I got a home demo.
Nice!

But I think I can do better with the
Cyrus kit.

I will definitely consider Dynaudio as
an option.

I have demoed many speakers in the past
both stand mount and floor standers.

I like stand mounters due to the extra
detail they seem to have and snappier bass but they do lack the deep
bass and room filling power of floor standers.

I also use my main speakers for AV use
and have no sub woofer.

Oh the dilemmas of being an
audiophile!!!
