Hi All,
Many moons ago, at least fifteen, I won a telly from a competition organised by a hi fi magazine.
It broke down last week, after a long life and trouble free viewing. I remember at the time of winning, I checked out the price of this TV, that by the way, was the size of a house, and it retailed for £800.
Imagine the shock involved, when I looked at the price of tv's now. Expecting them to be lower than £800, masses of them are higher, and significantly higher at that.
In fifteen years, you would expect the prices to have fallen, but to get a tv now that mirrors my old one, I would have to spend more money. This cannot be right. Someone somewhere is making a fool of us all. And I think we an guess who these people are.
In addition, the sound on my old broken tv was very good. Listen to the reviews on the latest tv's, and even a five star Sony award winner gets hammered for having "sounds flat" sound.
How can a tv get five stars when half of the pleasure of it (the sound) is not up to scratch.
And you cannot say it does not matter, because people use extra speakers these days, because most people do not.
I hope this post is not removed through fear, by the people who operate this site, because it is a valid point and it would be interesting to read others views.
Neil.
