Having problems with my wireless network. Im with Virgin. I still have an old NTL cable modem which is wired to wireless router. If they are switched on and then I switch on my laptop or desktop then it will connect to the wireless network but if I open FireFox then it will not access the Internet. If I switch off the router and connect the laptop directly to modem via Ethernet, switch off the modem, unscrew the cable connected to it, wait 30 secs, screw cable back in, then switch on modem, I can connect to net over this wired connection. If I switch on router and try to connect again wirelessly then the same thing happens and I have to go through the above process once more.
I was staying in a hotel the last couple of days and connected to their free wireless network and Im wondering if this has done something to my laptop settings. I think this is something to do with IP addresses getting changed and this being where my problem lies. I don't know enough to be sure.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do?
