Windows Phone 8 announced

It certainly looks like a significant update from Windows 7.5, with multicore support, microSD card support, VOIP on board, NFC support & the ability to work with different screen resolutions including 720p:

It is based on Windows 8 Kernel, & not Windows CE.

On paper, it looks like it will succeed. 🙂

Must admit, it looks pretty nifty, and I like the looks of the (Metro?) front end on a phone/tablet.

I agree. The UI will need getting used to, but it looks slick. I am tempted to consider this as my next phone.
