Will Soundstyle Z2s make a difference to my Denon D-M30 system?

I'm slowly wanting to upgrade my AV kit (the TV is done!) and I'm wondering whether buying some Soundstyle Z2 stands will make much of a difference to my Denon D-M30 micro system? Currently the speakers (the Mission M50s that came with the system) sit on a carpeted floor and while to me they sound fine, I'd be interested to know if anyone has gone from this set up, bought some decent stands, and really noticed an improvement on this level of system?

I'll eventually upgrade the system and speakers so the stands wouldn't be a waste, but it's worth getting views on whether the money should go on something else first?

Many thanks

Tim

Easy answer - yes your system will sound better.

We always test micro systems both on a table/shelf (as so many will be used) and then with the system properly supported: you can always hear the difference, particularly with the speakers.

If you don't want to buy stands, just isolating your speakers with, say, a granite slab (the Tesco granite chopping boards seem a popular budget solution) should bring improvements.

Thanks Clare - I might demo the chopping boards at a few supermarkets until I get thrown out, but will otherwise invest in some Z2s ;-)

In case anyone needs convincing, I can report those folks at WHFSV are not wrong! The Z2s have indeed made a noticeable difference to the sound from my Denon D-M30 - apart from putting the speakers at a better listening height, they are much clearer, more open and louder (at same volume setting) compared to sitting on the carpet. The set up looks sharper too!

Good investment for £60

I'll second that. I have an Onkyo micro system at home, and having originally positioned it on a kitchen sideboard (not ideal) I moved it and placed the speakers on proper stands. BIG improvement.
