Will a DAC be worth it?

Given that DAC's are topical, would a an external DAC (Beresford for instance) be a worthwhile upgrade with my CD73T?

Sorry if it's been referred to a 73T before, but I would like a conclusive answer.

Yes, But the Beresford will not make a huge difference with the CD73. You would need to up the ante a little...ÿ

Although having said that you could get a Arcam DiVA CD192 for £400.

This is the what brings the DAC's into question. What is the advantage of a DAC when you can upgrade the CD player for similar money?

Well I think in your case I would go for a new player. I don't actually use my Tag with a seperate transport / CD player. My T+A D10 CD/SACD player has state of the art DACs and it costs almost £6000. I use my DAC with my Sony Freeview box, my Arcam DVD player and my Pinnacle Showcenter media player.

If you don't want to use the DAC for other sources I'd go for a new player like the CD192 which would be suitable upgrade for you.
