WiiM Ultra

I'm not sure the reviewer's Cambridge Audio MXN10 Pro's and Con's comparison was the appropriate one, the WiiM Ultra attracts a different market, people who need intuitive interface, touch screen and a good sound quality, will not likely weigh up the Cambridge as an option.

However, those with traditional brand loyalty to Cambridge may not consider the WiiM.
There's really nothing in the price range that's remotely similar to the WiiM Ultra, the Eversolo's A6, Bluesound Node Icon etc cost a few hundred's more.
It occupies a unique position.

I see from the photo, the headphone plugged into the socket was Beyerdynamics Amiron, good choice 🙂

I have a question about the WiiM Chromecast capability. I have the obsolete Google Chromecast audio devices hooked to receivers all over my house, and the Onkyo receiver in my theater room also has Chromecast support. I can currently cast to ALL the devices simultaneously, and they sync-up well enough that you can move around the house without noticing any delay or out-of-sync systems. Does anyone know if the WiiM would play nicely in this environment? (Previous experience with Yamaha receivers resulted in several milliseconds of 'processing delay' on the Yamaha based rooms, and it was a terrible listening experience, especially in some areas of the house, where you were hearing music from two out-of-sync systems. Yes, even in 'direct' mode.). It may be too much to ask from the WiiM products, but has anyone tested it?

Why was the headphone output not reviewed? Anyone have a recomendation as to a suitable pair of headphones to pair with the ultra?

The Bayerdynamic Amiron is an excellent headphone but it's better with a headphone amp. The ohms is high.
Depends really on your budget.
The discontinued Focal Elegias you can get for a bargain, if you can still find it.
They're excellent.
The budget king has to be the FiiO FT1, I'm using these and they're not far off from the Elegias.
