Hi guys,

I need you to help me understand why since over 10 years ago if i am reading a review on home theater in a box the end results on music playback is always below expectations. With all the capability to handle 24/96, Dolby True HD and DTS HD Master Audio on latest Blu Ray home theater in a box systems still not so good on CDs?

Are the manufacturers building those system on low budget component? or is that music require a special player?

For Audio CD sound quality only, what is the difference between the HTiB of 2004 and the one of 2014? i want to know if sound is improving after wide formats support.

Why is that a $500 Music system with speakers sounds better than HTiB with same price tag?

Thanks

A

i would guess its down to quality of the speakers but really ive no clue

Pretty much. HTIB will be built to a price point and is marketed to casuals, it's very easy to decode the various audio and video formats but to get it to look and sound good takes good engineering and money. Not stupid money, just reasonable.

Just google a couple of HTIB sets, for the same price as a while system you could get 1 pair of decent speakers, never mind an amplifier. That's not to say it doesn't serve a purpose, nothing wrong with those systems if you have one and enjoy it and don't want to spend stupid money.

So in short as you've already alluded, quality.
