This might sound odd or familiar; I want to upgrade my Speakers from the MS 914 for my CA 840a/c, BUT they have to be WHITE ,otherwise they won't be allowed in by the wife ;-). I have a large living room.

I wanted to MS Mezzo's '6, but they don't come in white. I have looked in all main stream shops but can't find white floorstanders in general. Why is this? With the whole Apple Mac hype there must be a huge demand for these.

On the web I have seen in white; Mission 794, Monitor Audio radius 270HD, Dali Ikon 5, and the Amphion Helium 520.

I would have thought the Amphion Helium 520 would be the best speakers but can't find them anywhere.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Wait for a couple of months and Rega will be launching gloss lacquer versions of their new RS3 (and maybe RS5) speakers in a range of colours. They usually included white as an option when they did this with past speakers and turntables.

Magnat Quantum 705, I know Magnat doesn't get mentioned around here, at all, but it's a fabulous speaker.

Monitor Audio Gold and Silver series speakers can be had in silver, maybe that's an option?

Any speakers you want and some spray paint!

Seriously though I know someone who works in a garage and they painted some speakers (amongst other things) and they looked great!

I cannot imagine what decor you have that is going to look good with bright white floorstanders :D

I can understand the doubts about white floorstanders, but the wife wants the white look and I want the sound..;-) So good sounding white speakers seem to be the ultimate solution.

I thought about painting speakers, but spending between £500-1,000 on speakers and then painting them I see as high risk (both visual as well as from a sound perspective).

So far, theÿMagnat Quantum 705ÿlook the best option. Question is where to get German made speakers from in this Country....

ÿThanks for your help. I am amazed by the quick and good responses in general on these boards.....ÿ

Give these guys an e-mail (or call):
http://www.fryersales.com/

According to the Magnat website they're the UK distributor for the brand.

Canton and Elac also do white for their speakers. They're lovely speakers and usually rate better than Magnat in the German HiFi mags.

All the Canton's I've heard are also very impressive true, but for the money I think the Quantum 705 is a downright bargain, it's an amazing speaker.

Now were on the subject of white Cantons, the Karat 770 and 790 are also very impressive and do look might handsome too. Also a very good option.

Light maple is indeed approved by the wife ;-) so this will greatly increase the range. So far shortlisted;

  • Proac Studio 130 or 140 in maple. Sounded great with Roksan, but not heard with CA
  • Quad 21 or 22 L2 in piano maple. Finnish looks stunning, but have not heard them yet

The problem is that Richersounds doesm not do any of the above, so hearing the 840A with these seem impossible.

BUT, I just came back auditioning the ADM 9.1's (which also come in white), and although I was missing the lower end a bit, I might go with them and forget the seperates ever existed.

Really not sure what to do anymore....to much choice.

What I want is a good sounds from my Mac Mini. So a good dac, amp, and speakers, to fill a rather large room (8 * 6 meters with high ceilings...)
