The actual size of the top plate is not going to make any difference. Just buy the stand you like the look of and plonk / blutack the speakers on it.

Unless the stand plate is too small for the speakers. I presume the OP has already found this to be an issue given his posts.

I'm little confused now. I have to possible to change the speakers for the Kef ls50. I like a warmer, darker sound, but it seems that the sound is (in my room) too dark. Also maybe too much bass and voices seem withdrawn. I musy say that i hate a brighter sound and this is the best i heard. My music is older rock and metal. And these speakers are the fitst one i can listen to it.

Maybe the Kef ls50. But with my music i'm afraid that it won't go.

Have you now listened to the R300s?.......they will not sound great unless on stable, solid stands.

If your floor is a suspended wooden one, it can lead to bass problems unless decoupling measures are taken.

You have gone from thinking about a sub, to getting a speaker with less bass.....what brought this on?

They stay now very close to the wooden floor on very old and bad stands.

indeed; first i must have decent stands. I saw this one:

Not so expensive and 60 cm. But heavy enough?

- If the floor is suspended (ie. not laid over concrete), you should try putting Granite Worktop Savers (£10-£12 each) under the stands. You will then need spike shoes, which can be made from 1Ps if necessary.

- Kiln Dried Sand or Rice can be used to fill the stands, which adds weight and helps dampen any vibrations from exciting the floor.

- Blu-tac under the speakers also helps to isolate them.
