Which speakers should I buy?

I've never really bought speakers apart from little desktop ones, so I don't really know what I'm looking for, maybe you can help?

They'll mainly be used for playing loud music, streaming to it via apple airport express. Basically I still want the sound quality to still be good even when they're on full blast, my speakers at the moment go all crackly.

Any suggestions? Cheaper the better! I realise there's probably HUNDREDS that'd do what I need but thought I'd get some recommendations...

Budget? Size of room? Buying new or used? What amp do you have (or plan to get)?

Well under £100? Is that too cheap? I really am clueless!

The room is about 7 x 5 meters.

Don't have an amp, guess I'll be needing one of those too. Again, no idea about those either

Products that sound the same loud as they do on low don't come cheap - do you have a budget to work to?
Well it doesn't have to sound exactly the same, as long as its not majorly crackly I'd be fine with that

(to give you some kinda of idea, the speakers ive been using for the past year to stream my music to are £10 logitec desktop ones! 😛)

For that sort of budget, I suggest picking up some bargains on eBay, as there will be nothing youll be able to buy brand new for anywhere near that price that will do what you ask. I suggest having a look on ebay and picking up an Audiolab 8000A which you'll get for about £100-150, and then spend about the same on a used pair of speakers, something like a pair of B&W DM602's or 603's. It'll go pretty loud, sound pretty good, and won't change too much when pushed.

Stretch your budget to ex demo Dali Lektor 1`s for about 150 quid.
