I really dont think going from a 919 to a 2065 or lx-52 is going to see a big upgrade.

I was in your position about 2 weeks ago, and after many posts and talking with dealers, I bit the bullet for a SC-LX72. yes I know its a lot, but TBH Its a big upgrade.

From what others have said to me, your amp is great, which I had the VSX-819, and I wanted a night and day difference, and the only way I was going to get it was to buy a Amp that is over 1000.00 so opted for the RRP SC-LX72 which was 1700.00 but got it for 899.00, SO SO Glad I did, its amazing

But what I cant understand from your post is this:

You have the stuff to go 3D, why buy a non 3D amp?

If 3D does take off in the near future, then why spend 600.00 on a Amp when you will only want to buy another.

I for one, could care less about 3D.

Many thanks for your advise. I bought a Panasonic P50TXVT20 and it came with a Panasonic BDT100 3D Player only I can't use it via the 919. So it got me thinking about upgrading the amp to 3D compatible, however with more consideration I decided that I won't use 3D much (even in the future) maybe just the odd thing from SKY.

As such I thought maybe just upgrade the AMP and the Yamaha 2065 and Pioneer LX52 are both half price, but you may well be right if its not a major upgrade?

How would you describe the difference in your set up?

I have KEF 3005's say that may limit the quaility?

Thanks

Ian

It is actually possible to force the SCLX72 and SCLX82 to pass a 3D signal to a relevant screen

[OT] Hang on, (sound of needle scratching across vinyl

) I thought non-3D amps (i.e. those without HDMI 1.4a+ connections) couldn't pass through a 3D signal. How is this possible - please tell

I think you would need a blu ray player with 2 hdmi outs. one would go to the tv and one to the receiver.

From what Frankharvey said, if you put 3D on the player and same for the TV the amp will process it, or something.

So dont really see a point in buying a 3D receiver if your old amp will do it, but not sure if its only the pioneers.

So what you're saying is that if you have a 3D BDP, playing a 3D BD and a 3D TV, the Pioneer SC-LX72/82 can pass the 3D signal through to the TV? Can it also extract the HD audio and process it? This sounds against everything I've heard about 3D & HDMI 1.4a

v.confused.

This came from pioneer direct, I now know it will do the video, not sure about the audio.

I would assume HD audio is HD audio and the amp would be fine with it, its just the 3D video signal.

I am even more happier with this amp, but nopt interested in 3d as of yet, but would be nice once I get a 3d tv as they are going really cheap, seen a samsung 50" led or LCD for 900.00 on the weekend.

This is really interesting. Is this specific to the SC-LX72/82, or all Pioneer amps? Or even all amps...?

Sorry - way off topic now - new thread probably required.

Of course other solutions would be for more BD players to have duel HDMI outputs , one direct to display the other to amp

Unfortunately not in the manufacturers interests

Or use analogue out from BD player to amp , HDMI direct to display.

I have connected the 1.3 HDMi cable from a 3D blu ray player to my Pionner 919 and it wont read the signal, ie screen is blank.

It will work with SKY because thats side by side 3D.

I wonder why the LX range will allow 3D to work?

Interesting?
