We all know of classic hifi components of 25 - 30 years ago that are still going.

(Technics SL1200, Rega Planar 3/P3/P2, Sugden A21, Linn LP12, LS35A and other BBC derived monitors, Audiolab 8000A, Denon DL103, Thorens TD160/350, SME... etc etc.)

Which modern components would you buy now - confident they will still be sounding good (or even still be being made) in 2034 - 2039 with a bit of care, an occasional service and a fair wind?

I'll take the cop out and say that the sort of products you've listed should fare well if you buy new versions now. They're already classics too.

Bryston amps should do well with their 20 year warranty. Even if Bryston don't survive the credit crunch their amps will if they are that confident of their components and production standards.

Add to that list Linn, Naim, Quad etc. These have sold well enough that spare part availability is guaranteed even if you have to cannibalise other units to get your parts.

I guess simplicity of design would also help longevity. Less components to fail. Creek and other passive amps spring to mind.
