Which DAC?

Hello,

looking for a reasonable DAC to use in between a laptop & amp.

Would prefer to have a USB powered unit & a reputable AVI dealer has recommended the Edirol UA25EX at £209, though the Project DAC seemed to sound equally as good to me; with the Edirol having more connectivity options.

However, other recommendations are gratefully received,

The Musical Fidelity v-dac and the Cambridge Audio Dacmagic both have USB inputs.

In fact there are not many that are.

If it has to be usb powered and your only using it from computer to amp then the pro-ject is good value, can be had for £73 from super fi here.

l would prefer the DAC to be USB powered, but not at the expense of reduced quality/performance.

Anyone know if the new Beresford DAC, with USB connectivity, has been launched yet?
