Which cd player? NAD or Cyrus

Hey

I previously owned a c542 and I realy liked the sound, very neutral and high reso. I would like to upgrade

my system (B&W 7se and PMA2000AE) with a new cd player. My options are: Cyrus 6s or the NAD s500i..

Which one should I choose?

Hi, you really should try and demo both players although im certain the cyrus will easily out perform the nad, the cyrus is the best money can buy under a grand so i would go for the cyrus, listen to both players and let your ears decide, for me the cyrus is the clear winner.

Personally I prefer the Rega, Naim and better Marantz players, but I haven't heard them all so don't know whether they're the best under a grand. Listening, as you say, is the key.ÿ

I have just upgraded from a 542 to a Cyrus 6SE and the difference is easily distinguishable. I played both through the Kandy and just about every facet of the NAD's sound was improved with the 6. And that was before it was properly run in, its still getting better by the day.

Not heard the 6SE, but I personally think the Rega Apollo is very hard to beat under £1k. Worth auditioning both I think, as well as a Naim CD5i and the Denon player I suggested earlier, which is excellent and would match your amp nicely.

The denon is no option,,, already tried and sold it...

I am looking for used players, sinds my budget is ?600, so the Naim is too expensive. Today I ve listened to both the NAD 565bee and the Cyrus 8se... I like the high resolution of the NAD but the Cyrus is more musically.

(I am not talking about the Cyrus 6se, but the 6s!!) I think I ll try the Cyrus... let's hope the offer still stands...
