Which amp???

Hello everyone,

So I've got these Tannoy Mercury MX1s and I'm looking for an amp to play my iPod through. I'm thinking either the i20 or the Onkyo NDS1 feeding in to an Arcam/Rega/Cambridge Audio DAC. So which amp should I get?

I'm thinking either an "all in one" like the Marantz MCR603 or the Denon DM38, or just an amp like the Rega Brio-R or the Pioneer A-A6.

Does anyone have any experience with these or any useful tips on my setup?

As impressive as the MCR603 and DM38 are however going down the route of the separates will ultimately still offer much greater levels of performance 🙂

As from these three dacs i feel the Rega DAC is at the top followed by the DacMagic and then the rDac.

The Brio R is an is an ideal match for the Rega DAC and also happens to be even more impressive then the Rega DAC at the same price level (which is no mean feat btw).

The Brio R and the Rega DAC with (amongst other qualities) their rich, potent, detailed, punchy and dynamic presentation should suit the rather clean and somwhat upfront presentation just nicely

I did think that the Regas would be best because they matched and I liked the look of them too.
