You don't need the 6300 which has 11 channels of amplification. 6 channels too many for you.....Meaning you'll be using only half of the AV receiver yet paying the full price.

Got the Yamaha amp all done. Sounding very good. Bluetooth is amazing on the iPad. Still getting used to the Yamaha amp sound. Not as bright as the Pioneer, which is what I was looking for. I don't think it decodes the soundtracks on the front of the amp. You have to go into the menu.

Nice one- did someone from the shop come and set it up for you?
I think you mean "displays" rather than "decodes" -have a look on the 3060 owner's thread on AVF and also the 3050 one which is useful for those sorts of questions.

yep, I had the manager from Ortons Audio Visual set it up for £75. He was here roughly 2 hours. Nik is his name, I used to use him at Technosound. I got other installation guys too from AV-insight. Yep displays, it just says surround decode on the front. Cheers.

It sounds just like the Pioneer amp but smoother and not so high pitched. Yamaha amp is more powerful and I am noticing more detail. I think I have got what I was looking for in sound quality.

Still can't work out DTS X and Dolby Atmos perhaps you can't select them without extra speakers?

Cheers. Yep we did get DTS X earlier I am sure but I can't now get it. Any ideas? I am using The Hunstman Winters War.

Make sure your Oppo is set to bitstream audio. Yamaha should pick it up automatically.
Thanks BB. Just asked on AV Forums too and they said put it in straight mode instead of surround. Bingo, it works.

I have decided to keep my Pioneer 81, I found the Yamaha very similar too similar. And lacked the special sound of the Pioneer. The Yamaha was only a little smoother and was one powerful beast. Which I didn't like too much.

Proved the speaker placement and sub placement within your room are the limiting factors.

I wonder who was saying that to you about a year ago..... ??

FWIW - YPAO like MCCAC are not that great - Dirac on the other hand is fantastic.

It would be worth getting a home demo of are the arcam 550 - but make sure the person who sets it up Actually knows what they are doing with it. Its very easy to use but you still need half and idea what your looking at
